Hello!

My name is Caryn. I have nearly 30 years experience as an educator. I studied Sociology and Early Childhood Education at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and earned my teaching license from Framingham State University. Throughout my career I have gained experience teaching a variety of age groups, (pre-school-high school), individually, small group, and as a classroom teacher.

As an educator, I worked with students with a variety of abilities and disabilities, including ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, language disorders, and English Language Learners. I provided individualized instruction, for students of all ages, in an acute care psychiatric facility. During my time in the classroom, I had a variety of training on the science of reading, different reading programs, and the implementation of various literacy assessments. I was hired as a math liaison to coordinate math curriculum, assessments, and school programs for students and teachers in kindergarten through 3rd grade. I also have the Massachusetts Sheltered English Immersion Endorsement.

In 2014, I started Alphabetic Principles to provide individual academic support to students ranging from kindergarten through high school, in phonemic awareness, reading comprehension and fluency, writing, and math fluency.  I have extensive training in Orton-Gillingham and Dyscalculia interventions for all age groups. I have provided support for students who receive speech and language therapy in a private practice, and also worked with other educators to administer initial language and math assessments. I have also developed classes and curriculum for small groups of homeschoolers.

I live in Massachusetts with my family. During my free time, I enjoy reading and watching movies.
